This new light rail line runs 7.5 miles from downtown to south of Reliant Park.  It's a fast, convenient and safe way to travel between Downtown, Midtown, the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center and Reliant Park.  With frequent service and the capacity to carry up to 400 passengers per trip, Metro Rail will help cut through congestion in these heavily traveled areas.

Three shuttle bus routes provide free transportation between most buildings in the Texas Medical Center. Bus stops are conveniently located throughout the campus.


METROLift Information

METROLift, a service of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, offers curb-to-curb transportation for persons with disabilities who are unable to ride regular METRO bus service. For information, call 713-225-0119.

Bus Routes Serving the Texas Medical Center

METRO offers comfortable, reliable bus service to the Texas Medical Center on 13 routes. Routes and schedules are available in the Texas Medical Center Parking Services Offices (in Garage 2) and on the METRO Web site. Reduced fares are available to children, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. METRO also offers a monthly pass, good for unlimited rides during the month purchased. 1 — Hospital Route
Service to and from downtown, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, Park Plaza Hospital, Hermann Park and Zoo, Ben Taub General Hospital, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center.


2 — Bellaire Route
Service to and from downtown, Texas Medical Center, Southside Place, Bellaire, Bellaire Transit Center, Sharpstown Mall, Fondren S.W. , and Alief.


4 — Beechnut Route
Service to and from downtown, Texas Medical Center, Meyerland Plaza, Memorial Hospital S.W., Alief, and Hillcroft.


8 — South Main/North Main Route
Service to and from downtown, Rice University, Texas Medical Center, Westbury Square, Fondren S.W., Gessner, and Wilcrest.


13 — Plaza del Oro Route
Service to and from Texas Medical Center and Plaza del Oro area. Bus stops near the University of Texas apartments and other area apartments.


15 — Hiram Clarke/Fulton Limited Route
Service to and from Near Northside and Northline areas, downtown, Museum of Fine Arts, Texas Medical Center, Doctors Center, Astrodome, and Hiram Clarke Transit Center.


26/27 — Outer/Inner Loop Crosstown Route
Services to and from Texas Medical Center, Southeast Transit Center, MacGregor Park, Wayside, Denver Harbor Transit Center, Cavalcade, Heights, Shepherd, and Holcombe.


34 — Montrose Crosstown Route
Service to and from Studewood, Heights Transit Center, West End Clinic, Montrose, University of St. Thomas, Museum of Fine Arts, Rice University, and Texas Medical Center. Operates Monday-Friday.


68 — Brays Bayou Crosstown Route
Service to and from West Belt, Westwood Mall, Fondren S.W., Meyerland Plaza, 261-West Loop Park and Ride Lot, Texas Medical Center, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, and Eastwood Transit Center.


73 — Bellfort Crosstown Route
Service to and from Hobby Airport, Sunnyside, Astrodomain, Texas Medical Center, Rice University, West University Place Greenway Plaza, and the Galleria/Uptown area.


270 — Missouri City Park and Ride Route
Commuter service to and from downtown, Texas Medical Center and Missouri City. Lot is located at 13849 Fondren near South Main. Operates Monday-Friday. Peak hours only.


291 — North Shepherd Park and Ride Route
Commuter travel to downtown and then direct to Texas Medical Center. Lot is located at 7821 North Shepherd at Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Operates Monday-Friday. Peak hours only.


292 — Westwood/Texas Medical Center Park and Ride Route
Commuter service direct to Texas Medical Center. Lot is located at 9990 Southwest Freeway near Westwood Mall. Operates Monday-Friday. Peak hours only.

Pickup and delivery service to all points of the Texas Medical Center and both airports. Accepts reservations up to 30 days in advance. Also, a town car service with scheduling.
